New format for May 23rd!admin
The event at the OffRoad Speedway for May 23rd, will have a more realistic feel for the drivers. Similar to the first practice, cars will be pitted 30ft apart to follow the Health Directives of the Governor. Also, no fans will be allowed in the Grandstand. This again is to keep the social distancing as suggested.
The format is to make it is realistic as possible. Cars will be assigned according to class and draw. This will allow for the subsequent sessions to be run for IMCA points. Yes, every point will be earned. Local and state points will be recognized, as confirmed by IMCA.
At this time we are looking at starting at at 6:30 and will determine the right time to open the pit shack with the appropriate distancing. The regular four classes will be run simultaneously. (Late Models. Hobby Stocks, Sport Mods and Stock Cars).
The pit area will be used along with the general parking area for pitting the cars and teams. We will be taking the previous practice requirements a step further by getting temperatures at check in time.
The problem with the general parking being used for pitting is that there will be no pit speakers to communicate with the crews. Lineups will be on the MyRacePass app and we are looking for other ways to get info out to make sure social distancing is followed.
Scott’s Smoke Shack will be doing limited concessions. Mark does have a food permit so he will be following the directives that other establishments have to follow. Mark will also sell dinners for take out and the details will be worked out as we go along in the week.
Pit passes will be $40 for the driver and $25 for each pit crew member. The driver and pit crew can add up to 10. Personnel from the pit crews will be allowed in the Grandstand area but will be asked to stay with your group and again be required to maintain distances from others.
The purse will be paid out according to what is brought into the pits. We are looking at the numbers and the payout should be very close to normal. We are asking drivers and crew to pre-register to keep to the distancing guidelines. The registration forms will be made and put on the website. The registrations from last weeks practice rain out will not count. We are going to work with MyRacePass to prepay for this event. Details coming. For those that do not use the this technology, please call Robyn to work it out.
Track registration fee at the OffRoad Speedway for this year will be waived, but please get your track registrations filled out. It is on the website.
Advantage Racing has been contracted to do all of OffRoad’s events this year and they will be providing the May 23rd event. Please contact Advantage Racing for details.
As we get closer to to this weekend, we will be nailing down additional details and will get them out as soon as possible.
